Linda Spies – Retired School District Food Service Director

Linda Spies is the former food service director at Gold Trail Union School District in Placerville, California. Before retiring, she oversaw food service operations at both Gold Trail and Sutter’s Mill Schools. She traveled between both sites to monitor food quality and ensure compliance with regulations. Linda Spies also made menus, completed food orders, managed student accounts, and reported to school boards.

Linda Spies enjoyed working with cafeteria staff and serving students. Her people were like family to her, and she liked the daily routine of preparing and serving food. She also saw firsthand how long lines at the cafeteria impacted students’ decisions to eat lunch and now advocates for vending machines with only healthy food options in schools.

Currently living in Placerville, California, Ms. Spies spends her retirement sewing and quilting. She also volunteers at Marshall Hospital and veterans’ organizations.
